The first sleepover is usually harder on the humans than the dogs. Most pups are too busy making friends to notice you have left. A little preparation still goes a long way, so here is everything we wish every owner knew before night one.
Before the big day
Every new guest starts with a quick play date, usually 15 to 20 minutes, so our team can see how your dog plays and settles. Book it a week or two ahead, especially before school holidays when the calendar fills up fast.
While you are at it, check your vaccination card. We need core vaccines plus kennel cough, and kennel cough is not always part of the standard shot, so ask your vet if you are unsure.
TailHaus tipA daycare visit before the first sleepover helps. Your dog learns the smells, the people and the routine, so night one feels like a sleepover at a friend's place.
The packing list
Tick things off as you pack. We will keep your list until you leave this page.

What to leave at home
Leave the expensive bed, the squeaky toy that drives everyone mad and anything you would be sad to see chewed. Group play means toys get shared, and shared toys sometimes go missing.
“The dogs who settle fastest are the ones whose owners say a quick, happy goodbye.”
Drop-off morning
Give your dog a decent walk before you leave so they arrive a little tired and a lot curious. Drop-off is from 07:30 on weekdays. Keep the goodbye short and cheerful. Long, emotional farewells tell your dog something is wrong.
Hand over the bag, mention anything new (a sore paw, a new food, a fear of thunder) and go. We will send a pupdate once they have settled.
While they stay with us
Expect pupdates through the day: zoomies on the lawn, splash time, nap time. Pick-up is by 18:00. Do not be surprised if your dog sleeps for most of the next day. A tired dog is a happy dog.

The Night Rate is R349 a night, or Unlimited Sleepovers cover 30 days for R3,499 (excl. VAT).
